Omkar simply means that which is of “OM.”

The sound “OM” (Aum):

All sounds are expressions of movement/change (actions, efforts, names, etc.) along the time axis in this creation.  Amongst these “all” includes:  all there was, all there is, and all there will be.

What is before is soundless
.

Due to limitedness, humans manifest these expressions through source sound created at the larynx and is altered as it travels through the vocal tract, configured differently based on the position of the tongue, lips, mouth and pharynx.  The source sound is “a” at larynx.  The last altered sound through lips is “m,” and the in-between sounds are rolled in “u,” resulting in the manifested sound “aum” (OM).

This sound “OM” (Aum) for some humans represents expression of movement along this time axis.  At this moment, it is not completely manifested but continues to be manifested as creation continues in time.  If my senses were evolved enabling me to hear this sound in its cosmic form, I will not hear the sound in its entirety since the sound is still manifesting.  Though, through this partial sound I will perceive, recognize, and have knowledge of all that has happened in this creation thus far.  The only thing unknown will be the reason for the movement.  I will not know about this reason as to why it happened and why it continues to happen – since that was contemplated upon before the sound started manifesting.  The answer to “why” is essentially within soundlessness.  Perhaps meditation in its stage of soundlessness will yield the answer, and still it may not.

For some humans, the sounds “a,” “u,” and ”m” represent the three stages of existence:  dreamless sleep, sleep with dreams, and stage other than sleep – the apparent wake stage and all associated perceptions during the three stages.  For others, these individual sounds represent:  creation being manifested, creation being sustained as a movement along the time axis, and creation being unmanifested.

Time starts at the start of manifestation (the big bang event) and will end at the end of un-manifestation of the creation.  The start of time is known but whether it ends or not is unknown, depending upon if the creation will cease to exist or not.  If everything around us seems to be cyclic, there is no reason for creation not to cycle through life and death; therefore, “time” must also end and then, start all over again.

And, THAT, without movement, relative to which time advances and ends, indeed, know IT to be the Creator.
